Emerging Artist Program

For the past several years through the generous support of the Heather and David Foundation and the RBC Emerging Artist Program, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan has had the opportunity to engage in a program to hire theatre students and recent graduates as part of our festival.

In 2021 we had 5 positions that included stage management, acting, design, technical theatre, and design. In 2019 we had 5 positions total: acting, stage management/technical theatre, admin/management, and assistant directing.

The intent of this program is to give candidates a chance to sit down with Co-Interim Festival Curator, Skye Brandon, to begin a connection with the company, to discuss the work that would best suit the candidate’s educational and professional development, and for the successful candidates to gain the experience in a professional environment.

There is the ability to apply for both existing positions in the organization as well as positions created to suit the needs of successful candidates. Areas can include but are not limited to:

  • Design Assistantship
  • Acting
  • Administration and Management
  • Musician
  • Props Assistantship
  • Stage Management Apprentice
  • Backstage
  • Wardrobe
  • Front of House
  • Box Office
  • Dramaturgy and research
  • Assistant Direction

The submission deadline for the 2022 Emerging Artist Program has now passed. Be sure to check back and keep an eye on this page for updates and more information on the program!
