General Auditions

Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan will be holding General Auditions for the 2020 Season in the fall of 2019.  Our submission deadling is usually sometime in October with auditions occurring in November.

With a mandate to celebrate Saskatchewan artists we are particularly interested in hearing from artists living in or with deep roots in Saskatchewan.  We also highly encourage diversity and gender parity in submissions and have plans to serve these voices.

Artists whose work is familiar to Artistic Producer Will Brooks are encouraged to submit and express interest but may not be required to audition.  Artists who have worked with the festival recently are always encouraged to get in touch to keep us informed of their particular artistic interests.

Please forward resumes and headshots in PDF format to ap@shakespearesask.com

Only those artists receiving an audition will be contacted.

Rehearsals will begin in mid to late May and the shows will begin in mid to late June and run through to late August.

Emerging Artist Program

For the past several years through funding support, the University of Saskatchewan Drama Department and Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan have had the opportunity to engage in a program to hire University of Saskatchewan Greystone students and recent graduates as part of our festival.

In 2019 we were able to have four positions total in the areas of acting, stage management, wardrobe and directing.

We will also call for submissions this fall from students and recent graduates (within three years) for positions in 2020. The intent of this program is to give candidates a chance to sit down with our Artistic Producer, Will Brooks, to begin a connection with the company, to discuss the work that would best suit the candidate’s educational and professional development, and for the successful candidates to gain the experience in a professional environment.

There is the ability to apply for both existing positions in the organization as well as positions created to suit the needs of successful candidates.  Areas can include but are not limited to:

• Design Assistantship

• Acting

• Administration and Management

• Musician

• Props Assistantship

• Stage Management Apprentice

• Backstage

• Wardrobe

• Front of House

• Box Office

• Dramaturgy and research

• Assistant Direction

• Production Management Assistantship

• Festival Management

We highly encourage diversity and gender parity in submissions and have plans to serve these voices.

Submission deadline will be September or early October.
