Anita Smith


Previously at Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan: J. Caesar (Director) 2016; Love’s Labour’s Lost (“Princess”) & The Winter’s Tale (Paulina) 2011; Henry IV, Part 1 (Mistress Quickly) & The Tempest (Miranda) 2008; Julius Caesar (Lucius) & Twelfth Night (Olivia) 2007.

Anita is very excited to be returning to Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan after directing the ground-shifting production J. Caesar with her all-female cast of warriors in 2016.  An active member of the Saskatoon theatre community, Anita fills a variety of roles both on and off the stage.  Anita is the General Manager of Saskatoon Summer Players and the Executive Director of 25th Street Theatre.  As an Actor some of her favorite credits include: Waiting for the Parade (Lili Marlene Cooperative), Boeing Boeing and Quick Bright Things (Persephone Theatre), The Tempest and Twelfth Night (Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan), and Pillars & Echoes (Saskatchewan Legislative Building Centennial Artists in Residence Project).  A passionate feminist, Anita is very excited to be working with her friends and colleagues at Ferre Play Theatre to produce and perform in Margret Atwood’s The Penelopiad in the fall of 2019.  As always Anita would like to thank her "village" for making it possible for her to do what she loves.
